Calling All Artists and Muralists, 

 

Emmanuel College is excited to announce an open call for proposals for a mural project in Boston aimed at investing in artists, enhancing Emmanuel College's on-campus aesthetic, and making deeper connections with the campus community.

The Emmanuel College Art Department is seeking project proposals that will create an impactful and visually compelling mural that is connects with the arts, reflects diverse communities, engages ideas relevant to college students, and creates a feeling of artistic investigation. 

 

Project Overview 

The mural will be on the walls serving as an interior entrance to the Art Department on the fifth floor of the Eisner Administration Building, a prominent location with significant visibility.

General Guidelines 

  • Transform the functional threshold/hallway space between the elevator and studio into a playful, imaginative, and creative entrance. 

  • Celebrate and promote the local culture, history, and diversity of our community. 

  • Foster a sense of pride, inclusivity, and unity among students, faculty, staff, and visitors alike. 

  • Create a visual that is inspiring and promotes the arts and how the arts can impact our community and society looking forward. 

  • Be thoughtful about the programs offered at Emmanuel (i.e., studio arts, design, Art History) and how they might influence or connect. 

 

Scope of Work: 

The selected project team will be responsible for the following: 

  • Execution: Professionally execute the mural using high-quality materials and techniques. 

  • Completion: Cleanup of materials and the space upon completion 

  • Upkeep: Right of first refusal for any major repair and/or provide guidance on maintaining the mural's integrity over time

Timeline 

Complete the mural within the agreed-upon timeline, considering school schedules, site access, and other potential challenges.  

 

Budget/Stipend  

  • $7k compensation 

  • Plus $2k material budget 

 

Deadline 

  • All submissions have closed. Responses to finalist will be sent out by beginning of March.
