All these Asian American and Pacific Islander women of today are breaking new barriers and indeed shattering the glass ceiling. While AAPI culture is often simplified to stereotypes of academic achievement, the work of dozens of remarkable women has paved the way for people of all walks of life to succeed across multiple fields, from politicians to artists and everything in between. It’s important to see people who look like you in the media, especially women of color.
Hopefully, a young asian American girl will see someone like them, being Asian, in a leadership position or a non-traditional career path, and think, “She did it. So, of course, I can too.”
