Jacquelyn Collas

For this project, I redesigned the UI of a Dungeons & Dragons character generator that I coded in my sophomore year of college.  My goal was to adapt it as an app that would have the ability to save and share different characters outside of just screenshots. I wanted to capture the look and feel of the Player’s Handbook so that it would appeal to long-time players, but also something unique and intuitive enough that new players could jump right in and use it without any prior knowledge.

The D&D random character generator that I made has been a personal project of mine for the past two years, and I have been working on, adding to, and improving that code on and off since then. The original design and layout of the site was functional, but only just. It lacked the elegance and flair that has come to characterize my portfolio, and when I saw the opportunity to redesign it for this class I jumped at chance. My goal is to one day develop my website into a fully-functioning app, and now that I have the visual language, I feel like that dream is one step closer to becoming a reality.
